Some foods that can cause diarrhea

In this article, we focus on the types of foods that can cause diarrhea. Their consumption does not automatically trigger diarrhea, but the fact of abusing or combining them with other foods, can indeed be decisive. So get to know these types of foods.

1- Sugar and its substitutes:
Foods that are high in sugar can cause diarrhea. Fructose is a component of sugar and is also found naturally in fruit. Some fruits contain more fructose than others.
The body cannot digest a certain amount of fructose. Thus, consuming more fructose than the body can absorb, can obviously cause diarrhea. Here are some examples of foods with high fructose content:
Apple juice
Grapes
The agave
Sodas

2- Caffeine:
Drinks and foods that contain caffeine can also cause diarrhea in some people. Caffeine is a stimulant and accelerates the speed at which food travels through the intestines. Common food sources of caffeine include chocolate, coffee, tea and sodas, among others.

3- Foods rich in fat and spices:
Fried foods and other foods that contain a lot of fat can also cause diarrhea, as they are much more difficult for the body to process. In addition, spicy foods, such as those that contain peppers, are another common cause of diarrhea.

4- Lactose:
People who are lactose intolerant may experience diarrhea, in addition to other symptoms, after consuming dairy products. Some people with lactose intolerance may be able to tolerate small amounts of dairy products. These products include yogurt, kefir and hard cheeses.

5- FODMAPs:
Fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols are a class of carbohydrates called FODMAPs. Foods rich in FODMAP are difficult for some to digest for some people and can cause diarrhea.
Certain categories already mentioned in this article, such as fructose, lactose, and sugar alcohols, are considered FODMAPs. The list of foods rich in FODMAP is vast, but some other examples are artichokes, beans, garlic, onions …

6- Gluten:
Gluten is the protein in wheat, rye and barley, and many people have trouble digesting it. When someone has celiac disease, their immune system responds to gluten and causes damage to the small intestine. But people who don’t have celiac disease can also have gluten intolerance issues.
